British Virgin Islands Golf
There is not one golf course on the British Virgin Islands, but die-hard golfers are far from being out of options if they choose to stay on the otherwise fabulous British Virgin Islands. The British Virgin Islands are conveniently located close to several islands that do have golf, and the Caribbean island-hopper system makes traveling between them practical for a half day's jaunt on the links.
The fabulous Mahogany Run Golf Course, 18-holes of championship caliber with breathtaking views alongside, is on the US Virgin Island of St. Thomas, less than one mile away from the British Virgin Islands at their closest points. To play at Mahogany Run, golfers may take one of several daily ferries from the British Virgin Islands at Tortola or Virgin Gorda. Frequent flights from the small British Virgin Islands air terminals also travel to St. Thomas. Nearly 20 golf courses dot the American territory of Puerto Rico, an island within a quick flight's reach from the British Virgin Islands. Check out the Dorado Del Mar course, designed by local golf hero Chi Chi Rodriguez, or the Bahia Beach Plantation for some challenging tropical golf. Flights departing from the British Virgin Islands - both Tortola and Virgin Gorda - bound for San Juan, Puerto Rico, are frequent and short.
